Approve 2024-2025 department holiday closures.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

Staff is recommending Board approval for select department closures during the upcoming holiday period when service demands are reduced. Employees who choose to be off work during the office closure must use available leave balances to cover their time off. The following departments are requesting closures:

Agriculture - December 25, 2024 through January 1, 2025

Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Elections:

Assessor - Closed at noon on November 27, 2024. Closed December 25, 2024 through January 1, 2025.
Clerk-Recorder - Closed at noon on November 27, 2024. Closed December 24, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
Elections - December 24, 2024 and December 31, 2024

Community Services:

Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Public Works, Administration - Closed at noon on December 24, 2024 through January 1, 2025
Landfill - December 25, 2024 and January 1, 2025
Animal Services - December 25, 2024 and January 1, 2025

County Administrator - (including Clerk of the Board) - December 25, 2024 through January 1, 2025

County Counsel - Closed at noon on December 24, 2024 through January 1, 2025

District Attorney - No closures

Financial Services - December 25, 2024 through January 1, 2025

General Services - No closures

Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) - December 24, 2024, December 26, 2024 and December 31, 2024. HHSA will maintain a 24-hour response for child and adult protective services. Behavioral health crisis services will remain available through the 24-hour phone line at 888-965-6647, and HHSA will continue to provide emergency CalWORKs homeless assistance.

Human Resources - Closed at noon on December 24, 2024 through January 1, 2025

Innovative Technology Services - No closures

Library - December 24, 2024 (all branches closed by 6 p.m.), December 25, 2024, December 31, 2024 (all branches closed by 6 p.m.), and January 1, 2025

Probation - No closures

Public Defender - December 24, 2024 and December 31, 2024

Regional Child Support Agency - December 26, 2024 and December 27, 2024

Sheriff's Office - No closures
