Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Board of Supervisors received an update on the County's Policy on Naming of County Assets on April 23, 2024.  In that meeting, the Board directed staff to return in a future meeting with a revision to the policy providing the Board more discretion within the Board Chambers to acknowledge Board Supervisors who have passed while in office. Included in this staff report is Attachment A, a redline version of the County with proposed language to give the Board the discretion on how to use the Board Chambers to acknowledge others.  Included as Attachment B is a clean version of the policy with the revision.

Staff is also seeking direction from the Board to proceed with a plaque honoring former Supervisor Gary Sandy. This plaque will be installed within the Board Chambers and sized appropriately to allow the possible addition of future Board member names as this Board deems appropriate in the future.
