Approve the acceptance of grant funds from Amalgamated Foundation in the amount of $225,000 for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025 and a second issuance of grant funds in the amount of $225,000 for the period of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026 for the support of the Workforce Innovation Board Seeds of Success Comprehensive Listening Session & Surveys Project. (No general fund impact) (Sullivan)

Recommended Action

  1. Approve the acceptance of grant funds from Amalgamated Foundation in the amount of $225,000 for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025 for the support of the Workforce Innovation Board (WIB) Seeds of Success Comprehensive Listening Session & Surveys Project; and
     
  2. Approve the acceptance of a second issuance of grant funds from Amalgamated Foundation in the amount of $225,000 for the period of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026 for the support of the WIB Seeds of Success Comprehensive Listening Session & Surveys Project.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

Yolo County seeks to implement a comprehensive plan to improve the well-being of migrant and seasonal farmworkers in Yolo County, focusing on racial equity, holistic support, and quality jobs. The goal is to empower farmworkers and their families by providing opportunities for farmworkers to share their real-life experiences in a meaningful way. The information shared by farmworkers will expand the depth of knowledge and identify additional opportunities to strengthen support for the farmworker community in Yolo County. The results of the information collected will impact the program design and will help enhance the services offered to farmworkers in Yolo County.

No general funds are required by this action. The total amount of this action is up to $225,000 in revenue for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025. The amount of $225,000 will be included in the mid-year budget. A second grant award letter will be issued for $225,000 for the period of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The related funding will be included in the requested budget process for future fiscal years.
