Reason for Recommended Action/Background

Cache Creek Regional Park Campground is off-grid and relies on solar with a back-up generator for power. The existing propane generator is no longer operational and the campground cannot operate on solar alone. The current solar infrastructure charges batteries on site but cannot meet the energy demands of the campground alone and therefore a generator is required as backup. Without a generator, the campground will lose power and will not be able to be opened this upcoming season. The generator activates based on power consumption by the store, showers, and park host, and therefore supplements energy needs by charging the batteries as necessary.

A new generator will ensure adequate and reliable power supply for park amenities and the needs of park guests and the park host. Providing reliable power to the campground is imperative to the successful operation of the campground, which provides significant benefit to the County through revenue generation which is also supported by the surrounding communities of Rumsey and Guinda. The purchase and installation of a new generator will help Cache Creek Regional Park's Campground continue to be a valued County asset and maintain its positive reputation.
