Strategic Plan Goal(s)

Sustainable Environment
Operational Excellence

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Department of Community Services (DCS) Roads Division offices, originally constructed in 1969, requires modernization to enhance functionality and efficiency. The initial project scope included select interior improvements; however, upon review, the General Services Department recommended, and DCS concurred, that additional design enhancements would further optimize operational efficiencies.

The revised project scope now includes facility improvements to enhance the building envelope for better ventilation and cooling, improve overall functionality, create a dedicated training room, and construct a carport to protect the west side of the building and associated vehicles from sun exposure. These modifications expand the original scope of work, increasing the project cost beyond $100,000, thereby requiring Board of Supervisors' approval.

The Department respectfully requests the Board's approval of Amendment #2 in the amount of $18,755, bringing the total project cost to an amount not to exceed $127,796.

Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)

The General Services Department collaborated with the Department of Community Services, the Department of Finance, County Counsel, and the County Administrator's Office to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the project.
