Staff engaged in many various outreach efforts as part of the development of the 2020-2024 Yolo County Strategic Plan, including targeted outreach to County departments to gather and utilize their input. County departments provided a list of their goals and anticipated challenges for the next three to five years. This information provided insight into the various activities that departments were undertaking, as well as highlighting some internal organizational goals that are common among many departments. The engagement also shed light on areas of ambiguity. One such area was the use of security funds, and when and how funds could be accessed.

The development of the Security Fund Use Policy will provide departments with a comprehensive road map for the use of the Security Fund, what projects are appropriate, and how to access funds. The approval and adoption of such a policy will provide departments with a clearer understanding of the management and oversight and use of the Security Fund.
