Recommended Action

Adopt Authorized Position and Salary Resolution to implement changes in the County Administrator's Office and Health & Human Services Agency; and approve an Employment Agreement (Attachment B) with Gerardo Pinedo as Yolo County Administrator, effective June 20, 2022.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

See Attachment A for changes to the Authorized Position and Salary Resolution.
For the past several months, the County has conducted two nationwide searches using experienced executive search firms to fill the role of County Administrator. After completing the second search and a thorough review of the candidates, the Board of Supervisors has selected Gerardo Pinedo as the new County Administrator.

Mr. Pinedo has extensive local government experience with the County of Los Angeles, where he has held a variety of positions since 1998. He is currently the Chief of Staff to Supervisor Janice Hahn. Previously, Mr. Pinedo held leadership positions in the Department of Public Health and the Department of Health Services between 2008 and 2020. Mr. Pinedo also served as a Senior Budget Deputy from 1998 to 2008. In addition, since 2006, Mr. Pinedo has served as an adjunct professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills, teaching a variety of public administration and policy courses.

The attached Employment Agreement (Attachement B) details the terms and conditions applicable to Mr. Pinedo’s service as the Yolo County Administrator. The term shall be initially for a period of five years, commencing on June 20, 2022, with the potential for extensions by mutual agreement thereafter. The base salary for Mr. Pinedo will be $295,000 annually. As set forth in the Agreement, Mr. Pinedo will also be entitled to all other benefits afforded to County department heads.
