Recommended Action
Authorize amendment of the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Equipment List to add vending machine equipment, in the amount of $40,000, that will be used to increase the free over-the-counter rapid antigen COVID tests accessibility to Yolo County residents for whom purchasing test kits out-of-pocket may present a financial hardship by providing them at no cost.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Effective June 30, 2022, Healthy Yolo Testing (HYT) will no longer provide community testing services which will significantly impact Yolo County’s testing capacity. To minimize impact to our most vulnerable populations, to include our rural, under-served and hard-to-reach communities, Yolo County Public Health requests approval to purchase five (5) vending machines which will be placed in strategic locations with county partners to provide free OTC Rapid COVID tests. Yolo County will maintain the machines and assume all responsibility of upkeep and operations, to include maintaining and replenishing inventory.
Summary of equipment costs: Five (5) Vending Machines at per unit cost of $6,000-$6,500
Labor Cost: $395 per unit
Delivery and Install Costs: $450 per unit
Total Estimated Cost of Equipment: $40,000
