Subject

Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $300,000 in grant funds from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services for the Specialized Emergency Housing Program. (No general fund impact) (Reisig)

Recommended Action

  1. Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $300,000 in grant funding awarded by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services; and
     
  2. Authorize the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney to execute the grant award agreement including any and all amendments and extensions.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Yolo County District Attorney's office has been receiving the Specialized Emergency Housing grant since FY2017-18.

Through this grant, we partnered with Empower Yolo and Shores of Hope to provide homeless/home insecure crime victims emergency shelter as well as intensive case management.  These services reduce the chance of re-victimization and to help break the homelessness cycle by providing an opportunity to achieve permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Yolo County District Attorney partners with Empower Yolo and Shores of Hope.

County Counsel has reviewed and signed the board resolution.

Grant funding for FY 2022-23 was budgeted at $306,425 and approved with adopted budget. No county personnel is funded by this grant. The department will be able to reduce expenses by $6,425.
