Reason for Recommended Action/Background
New laws passed by the California legislature have created a need for the Yolo County District Attorney's office to fund trainings and the collection of statistical data and reporting.
The Yolo County District Attorney partnered with El Dorado and Placer County to provide a training on new juvenile interrogation techniques. Experts from all over the world were retained to provide training to police agencies as well as Sheriff and District Attorney's offices.
With the 2020 passing of the Racial Justice Act, many counties, such as ours, have received request for data analysis. These request can be time consuming and complex. The District Attorney will be contracting with a research partner to perform an independent analysis of our data to be in compliance with the new law and allow us to respond to the request we are receiving.
