Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Yolo County District Attorney has been receiving the County Victim Service Program grant from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services since fiscal year 2016-17.

This grant allowed the county to provide services to victims in one location.  This location is Empower Yolo and instead of victims going to multiple locations, they can now go to Empower Yolo to receive counseling, legal aid, financial assistance, etc.

The funds are used to provide direct services, client navigation, and coordination of services that otherwise could not be provided to survivors in Yolo County.

Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)

The Yolo County District Attorney, in collaboration with Empower Yolo, continues to apply for these grant funds.

With this grant, there is a Yolo County Victim Services Steering Committee.  Members of this committee include the Yolo County District Attorney's Office, Empower Yolo, Yolo County Health and Human Services, Yolo County Superior Court, West Sacramento PD, Yolo County Probation Department, and Yolo County Sheriff's Office.

Community-Based Organizations in Yolo County also collaborate.
