Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The District Attorney's office has been receiving the Elder Abuse grant since fiscal year 2018-19. This grant provides advocacy to seniors and dependent adults who are vulnerable to fraudulent schemes and abuse while holding the perpetrators accountable.
This grant funds 2 limited term Victim Servicers Program Assistants (VSPA). The VSPAs work closely with HHSA Adult Protective Services (APS), ensuring more effective advocacy and support for victims as APS is the first responders to elder/dependent adult abuse. This partnership allows our VSPAs to make early contact with victims while maintaining that contact throughout the criminal justice process.
