Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The County is required to appoint a Public Guardian pursuant to Government Code section 27431. The Public Guardian is a component of the Adult and Aging branch of the Health & Human Services Agency. Ian Evans is currently serving as the interim Public Guardian but is transitioning into new employment as the Executive Director of Yolo County Housing. HHSA Assistant Director/Mental Health Director Karleen Jakowski will serve as the interim Adult and Aging Branch Director following his departure and staff recommend that the Board appoint her to the interim Public Guardian role, effective upon approval of the recommended action.
