Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Staff is recommending Board approval for select department closures during the upcoming holiday period when service demands are reduced. Employees who choose to be off work during the office closure must use available leave balances to cover their time off. The following departments are requesting closures:
Agriculture - December 25, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024.
Assessor - December 25, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024.
Clerk-Recorder - Closed at noon on Wednesday, November 22, and Friday, December 22, 2023. Closed Monday, December 25 through Monday, January 1, 2024.
Child Support - Closed December 26, 2023, and December 27, 2023.
Community Services - December 22, 2023 (half day) through January 1, 2024. The landfill will not close on these dates.
County Administrator (including Clerk of the Board) - December 25, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
County Counsel - December 24, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
Financial Services - December 25, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
Health and Human Services Agency - Closed on December 26, 2023, and January 2, 2024. HHSA will maintain a 24-hour response for child and adult protective services. Behavioral health crisis services will remain available through the 24-hour phone line at 888-965-6647, and HHSA will continue to provide emergency CalWORKs homeless assistance.
Human Resources/Risk - December 26, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
Library - Closed December 24, 25 and 31, 2023.
Public Defender - December 22 and 29, 2023.
All other departments will not have closures except for the regular holidays.
