Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Yolo County Sheriff's Office has historically provided the Yolo County Fair with security services. In 2019, the 40th District Agricultural Association began contracting with the California Highway Patrol to provide security services at the fair through 2023. The Sheriff's Office provided a proposal for security services for the 2024 fair. The 40th District Agricultural Association fair manager submitted the proposed contract to the Fair Board and received approval to authorize the contract. The term of the contract is the duration of 2024 through the 2028 Yolo County Fair. The Sheriff's Office will receive $62,316 in revenue for the first year of the Agreement. Compensation received will increase by 3% for each of the four subsequent years of the Agreement.
The presence of Yolo County Sheriff's Office deputies at the County Fair ensures that all members of the public have a safe experience when visiting. As this agreement is being made between two government entities, approval by the Board of Supervisors is required. Authorization for Yolo County Sheriff’s Office signature authority on program-related documents is also requested at this time.
