Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The County has a number of items of historical value at the Gibson House park grounds. Some of these items are large and do not require a rigorous temperature-controlled environment, but they do need to be kept in a shelter. A sample of some of these large items are a bathtub, seven washing machines, and other miscellaneous items. The current storage space, commonly known as the Garden Shed, suffered structural issues when an automobile crashed into the shed and is no longer safe for entry. The Garden Shed was stabilized by General Services staff to prevent further issues and additional safety measures are installed at Gibson House to prevent future automotive collisions. The new shed will be located beside the Historical Collection barn and the East barn on the Gibson House property. Once approved, the new storage facility will allow for the Garden Shed to be removed as the Garden Shed is not considered a historical structure. Approving this amendment to the authorized equipment list allows staff to purchase and install a new shed on the property.
