Adopt budget resolution increasing the District Attorney's Asset Forfeiture 2024/25 adopted budget by $46,917 to upgrade the District Attorney's building security, and approve amendment to the 2024-25 Authorized Equipment list. (No general fund impact) (4/5 vote required) (Reisig)

In FY18/19, the Yolo County District Attorney went through a vulnerability assessment. We received our report, prepared by the Central California Intelligence Center Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit, in August 2019.  In FY20/21, because of this assessment, we did place cameras on the outside of our building.

In the past couple of years, individuals among the public have been showing signs of aggression towards DA staff. These individuals are making threatening calls, coming into our office and using abusive language and tone towards the people working at our reception desk, investigations, etc.  This escalation has made it necessary to upgrade our security inside our building for the safety of our employees. The upgrades will include cameras throughout the building, an upgraded paging system, and a panic button. All of the security equipment was suggested in our vulnerability assessment.

We worked with Yolo County Innovation & Technology Services (ITS) to obtain quotes for the necessary equipment.

The paging system and panic button are a capital asset. We have included an amendment to the Authorized Equipment List.

The District Attorney's office collaborated with Yolo County ITS to obtain quotes for the necessary equipment to upgrade the DA's building security.

County Counsel reviewed and signed the budget resolution.

Yolo County already has a contract with Precision West and this is the vendor we are using for our cameras.

We did go out to bid for the panic button and upgraded the paging system. ITS requested quotes from four companies and only one company responded.
