Updates from YCH Interim Executive Director

YCH Commission - Interim ED Updates
April 27, 2022

New HR Specialist
Introduced their new HR Specialist, Marcia Sayles.

Migrant Center – Season Openings
The Migrant Centers are all open and 100% occupied! We submitted a request to the Office of Migrant Services to fund an additional Housing Specialist to support the program (there is one currently) and we have received initial indication that the request will be approved, providing much-needed assistance to the families.

Yolano Donnelly Repositioning
On April 12th, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to allocate $1m of the County’s American Recovery Plan funds to support the Yolano Donnelly redevelopment project! This demonstration of support for the project is critical in the review of the project by the Federal Office of Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity (FHEO), who must approve YCH’s plan ahead of any new construction.

Executive Director Recruitment
The position is currently posted and closes May 11th, with interviews to be held May 17th, 18th, and 19th. The interview panel is Commission Chair, Gary Sandy, and Vice Chair, Rich Lansburgh.

May meeting
At the May meeting, in addition to bringing forward next year’s budget for review and approval, I will bring forward a request to sell the Davis vacant lot on L Street with an affordable housing covenant filed at sale of the property.

Big Day of Giving
This annual opportunity to support nonprofits is a central source of resources for Yolo’s Public Housing Computer Learning Centers. We request your assistance in helping meet our goal of raising $3,000 and introducing new supporters to both New Hope Community Development Corporation and the Housing Authority.

How Can You Help?
  • Spread the word – your network is powerful!
  • Connect us with Business Match Donors – Big Day of Giving is for online, individual donors – businesses who donate prior to May 5th can offer a matching incentive for other donors!
  • Consider a tax-deductible gift in any amount!
  • Boost our Prize Opportunities – We have the chance to win prize money in many ways, including a 100% board giving challenge. This means donation dollars go further on May 5th than any other day of the year!
Thank you in advance for your ongoing support of the Commission and the families supported through YCH and New Hope.
