Motion made by Supervisor Provenza and seconded by Supervisor Barajas to bring back the naming of the Board Chambers after Supervisor Gary Sandy at the next meeting, along with a policy change to allow the chambers to be named after a Board Member who has passed away while serving. No vote was taken. |
Substitute motion made by Supervisor Villegas and seconded by Supervisor Frerichs to direct staff to proceed with amending the policy to allow the chambers to be named after a Board Member who has passed away while serving but to wait to name the chambers until the appropriate time, in just about a year from now, consistent with the current policy. Supervisor Provenza offered an amendment to the substitute motion to bring the vote on naming the chambers now after Supervisor Gary Sandy and not wait the two years from the time of his passing. Amendment was declined. No vote was taken. |
Minute Order No. 24-41:Alternate substitute motion made to return at a future meeting with an amendment to the policy on naming county assets to allow a plaque or acknowledgment in the Board Chambers in memory of Supervisor Gary Sandy, any future Board of Supervisor who passes away while serving as well as whoever the Board of Supervisors decides to add to the Board Chambers’ plaque/acknowledgment thereafter. Motion passed 3:1:1 with Super Villegas voting no and Supervisor Vixie Sandy recusing herself. MOVED BY: Barajas / SECONDED BY: Provenza AYES: Provenza, Barajas, Frerichs. NOES: Villegas.
