Proposed Motion: |
Move City Council award Contract No. PR1902.401 to DNG Construction, LLC, for Homestead North Park, in an amount not to exceed $3,687,179.05. |
Background/Discussion: |
The City’s system of neighborhood parks is intended to serve Chandler’s residential areas with a variety of active and passive recreational facilities. It is the City’s goal to provide, where possible, one neighborhood park for each square mile of residential development. In 1997, the City of Chandler purchased 7.6 acres of land at the southwest corner of Cooper Road and Frye Road (Homestead North Park site), located in the square mile bordered by Chandler Boulevard, McQueen Road, Pecos Road and Cooper Road. Along with Homestead South Park, which opened in October 2018, this park will serve the neighborhood park needs for the residents in this square mile. The project scope of work consists of an open turf area, ages 2-5 play structure, ages 5-12 play structure, shade structures, swings, sports courts, exercise equipment, picnic ramadas, drinking fountains, bike racks, trash receptacles, and a lighted walkway. The contract completion time is 210 calendar days following Notice to Proceed, tentatively placing the park's grand opening in fall 2022. A related Professional Services Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, for Post Design Services, is also scheduled for this City Council meeting. |
