| Move City Council award Construction Agreement No. ST1804.401, to Sunland Asphalt & Construction, LLC, for the Chandler Heights Road Improvements – Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive, in an amount not to exceed $9,784,943. |
| Background/Discussion: |
The Chandler Heights Road Improvements Project consists of widening the roadway to include two through lanes in the eastbound and westbound directions from Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive. The project scope of work consists of construction of two travel lanes in the eastbound and westbound directions, bike lanes, raised landscaped median, curb, gutter, sidewalk, American with Disabilities Act upgrades, traffic signal upgrades, streetlights, traffic signal interconnect, storm drainage, irrigation, block walls, and wet/dry utility improvements. This project also includes work and coordination with Salt River Project for undergrounding the overhead distribution lines. Construction is anticipated to begin in early January 2025. The agreement completion time is 365 calendar days following Notice to Proceed.
Of note, an adjacent segment of Chandler Heights Road, from McQueen to Gilbert roads, is currently approaching completion of construction. This segment will be fully reopened prior to this project (Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive) commencing construction.
A related Professional Services Agreement with Consultant Engineering, Inc. for the Chandler Heights Road Improvements – Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive, is also scheduled for this City Council meeting. |
