City Council Memorandum Public Works & Utilities Memo No. UA22-087
Date:
February 10, 2022
To:
Mayor and Council
Thru:
Joshua H. Wright, City Manager
Andy Bass, Deputy City Manager
John Knudson, Public Works and Utilities Director
From:
Rick Ruter, Utility Maintenance Supervisor
Subject:
Purchase of John Deere Gators
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council approve the purchase of seven John Deere Gators, from Deere & Company, utilizing the State of Arizona Contract No. ADSPO18-202498, in the amount of $69,586.37.
Background/Discussion:
Operations and maintenance staff at the Pecos Surface Water Treatment Plant operate, maintain and repair over 1,500 assets and equipment. This equipment is spread throughout a 65-acre plant and consists of a wide variety of pumps, motors, heavy electrical equipment, gearboxes, and monitoring analyzers. Staff utilize John Deere Gators on a daily basis to transport equipment and tools throughout the plant. These Gators have been used since 2005, have multiple issues, and have now exceeded their expected useful life.
Evaluation:
The State of Arizona competitively solicited and awarded a contract for landscape and utility vehicles, trailers, and equipment to Deere & Company. The City has a current agreement with the State of Arizona allowing for the cooperative use of its contracts. Staff recommends cooperative use of the State of Arizona Contract No. ADSPO18-202498 with Deere & Company. The State of Arizona contract is valid through May 8, 2022.
