Job Order Project Agreement No. CA2206.402 with Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC, Pursuant to Job Order Master Agreement No. JOC2404.401, for Downtown Alley Improvements from California Street to San Marcos Alleyway

Proposed Motion:

Move City Council award Job Order Project Agreement No. CA2206.402 to Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC, Pursuant to Job Order Master Agreement No. JOC2404.401, for Downtown Alley Improvements from California Street to San Marcos Alleyway, in an amount not to exceed $373,634.88.

Background/Discussion:

The Downtown Alley Improvements Project encompasses the alleyway located between California Street and San Marcos Place, bounded by Boston Street to the south and Commonwealth Avenue to the north.

The purpose of the project is to repair and enhance vehicle and pedestrian access, improve safety, and support a range of alleyway functions. The alley is frequently used for pedestrian circulation, service vehicle operations, general vehicular access, and other public uses.

The scope of work includes surface improvements, including stamped asphalt, valley gutters, vertical curbs, signage, and lighting upgrades. The project is scheduled for completion within 90 calendar days following the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

Evaluation:

The selection process was conducted in accordance with city policy and procedure and state law. The costs proposed for this project have been evaluated by staff and determined to be reasonable.
