Subject:

Purchase of Heat, Ventilation, and Cooling (HVAC) Equipment, Installation, and Services

Proposed Motion:

Move City Council approve the purchase of HVAC equipment, installation, and services, utilizing Mohave Educational Services Cooperative Contract No. 24B-SMC-0905, with Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $325,000.

Background/Discussion:

The Airport Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF) has fourteen evaporative cooling units installed throughout its campus. Four of these units were manufactured in 1997 and are now beyond their useful life. The original manufacturer is no longer in business and parts and support are no longer available. After nearly three decades of use, these units are worn out beyond repair and no longer operational. These cooling units play a vital role in protecting critical process equipment from heat-related failure. Timely replacement is essential to avoid disruptions to plant operations. Upgrading to modern units will not only restore proper function but also deliver significant improvements in energy efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance.

Evaluation:

Mohave Educational Services Cooperative competitively solicited and awarded a contract for HVAC equipment, installation, and services to Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. The city has an agreement with Mohave Educational Services Cooperative that allows for the cooperative use of this contract. The contract is valid through September 4, 2025.
