Date:
August 12, 2021
To:
Mayor and Council
Thru:
Joshua H. Wright, Acting City Manager
Steven Turner, Acting Airport Manager
From:
Chris Andres, Airport Planning Program Manager
Subject:
Resolution No. 5505 Authorizing grant agreements with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to accept an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant not to exceed $59,000 for airport operating purposes; and authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to execute the grant agreement and all other documents necessary to effect the agreement.
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council pass and adopt Resolution No. 5505 authorizing a grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration to accept an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant not to exceed $59,000 for airport operating purposes; and authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to execute the grant agreement and all other documents necessary to effect the agreement.
Background:
On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 into law. Section 7102 of ARPA provides approximately $8 billion in economic relief to eligible U.S. airports to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
On June 24, 2021, the FAA notified Chandler that it will be receiving a grant in the amount of $59,000. The funding may be used for airport operational expenses including sanitation program expenses, payroll, operations, and debt service costs.
Financial Implications:
No City matching funds are required for this grant.
Funding will be coded to the following account string: 217.4100.5716.0.3AI101 (FAA ARPA Grant).
