Subject:
Professional Services Agreement No. FI2001.271, with Cole Architects for the Fire Station No. 282 Reconstruction
Post-Design
Services.
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council award Professional Services Agreement No. FI2001.271 to Cole Architects for the Fire Station No. 282 Reconstruction
Post-Design
Services, in an amount not to exceed $139,702.
Background/Discussion:
This project is for Fire Station No. 282 reconstruction and consists of construction of the new fire station building and demolition of the existing fire station building. Fire Station No. 2, located near the intersection of Alma School and Warner roads, was constructed in 1986 and is the city's busiest fire station, consistently handling the highest number of calls for service each year. The current station is undersized for the area's needs and requires reconstruction, including expansion from two vehicle bays to four vehicle bays.
Professional Services in this contract include Pre-Construction Assistance, Review and Response to Requests for Information, Shop Drawings from Contractor, and preparation of Record Drawings. The contract completion time is 480 calendar days following Notice to Proceed.
A related Construction Contract with CORE Construction, Inc., for the Fire Station No. 282 Reconstruction GMP #2, is also scheduled for this City Council meeting.
Evaluation:
The selection process was conducted in accordance with City policy and procedure and State law. Per ARS 34-603 Request for Qualifications procurement, HDA Architects was determined to be qualified and provide Design Services. During design, HDA Architects was purchased and combined with Cole Architects. Staff recommends approval of this agreement with Cole Architects based on qualifications, relevant firm experience, team experience, project understanding, and project approach.
