City Council Memorandum Fire Memo No.
Date:

To:
Mayor and Council
Thru:

Thomas Dwiggins, Fire Chief
From:
Subject:
Fire and Emergency Medical Dispatch Services Appropriation for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council approve the appropriation for fire and emergency medical dispatch services for FY 2022-23, in accordance with the current intergovernmental agreement with the City of Phoenix, in the amount of $1,353,282.
Background/Discussion:
The City's current intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the City of Phoenix has provided the Chandler Fire Department (CFD) with dispatch services, technical services, and equipment maintenance. In FY 2008-09, the Phoenix Fire Department's Regional Dispatch Center instituted a full cost recovery approach to recoup its operating budget related to personnel, new equipment, and upgrades to current equipment.
Through CFD’s IGA with the Phoenix Fire Department, Maricopa Ambulance dispatch services are also provided. Maricopa Ambulance will reimburse the City of Chandler $262,690 for these services.
Financial Implications:
The financial implication is $1,353,282, which is appropriated in the FY 2022-23 Fire Operating Budget, line item 101.2210.5219. Maricopa Ambulance will reimburse the City $262,690.
