Purchase of Streetlights, Signals, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Components
Proposed Motion:
Move City Council approve the purchase of streetlights, signals, and ITS components, from CS Construction, Inc., utilizing Town of Gilbert Contract No. 323000238, in an amount not to exceed $460,000.
Background/Discussion:
The Transportation Division maintains 229 signalized intersections. In order to further optimize traffic signal operations, annual replacement and maintenance of signal components is necessary.
A recent annual assessment identified 45 of the 229 signalized intersections found cracked insulation on the signal wiring. This purchase will rewire these signalized intersections.
Evaluation:
The Town of Gilbert competitively solicited and awarded a contract for streetlights, signals, and ITS components to CS Construction, Inc. The city has a current agreement with the Town of Gilbert allowing for cooperative use of their contracts. Staff recommends the cooperative use of the contracts because of competitive pricing and the variety of services and equipment provided. The Town of Gilbert contract is valid through April 3, 2025.
