Carpet Installation Services

Proposed Motion:

Move City Council approve the purchase of carpet installation services for the Sunset Branch Library, from Wholesale Floors, LLC, utilizing the State of Arizona Contract No. CTR072520, in an amount not to exceed $113,529.44.

Background/Discussion:

The carpet at Sunset Library, 4930 W. Ray Rd., has reached the end of its useful life and requires replacement due to its age and deteriorating condition. According to the 2019 Facility Condition Assessment, the carpeting was identified as a capital replacement need. Over the years, the carpet has experienced significant wear and tear, including fraying, staining, and fading, which not only detracts from the overall appearance of the library but also poses safety concerns, such as tripping hazards.

Additionally, the outdated carpet is challenging to clean and maintain, which can contribute to an unhygienic environment. Replacing the carpet will improve the library’s aesthetics, ensure the safety and comfort of patrons and staff, and align with the city's commitment to maintaining a well-kept, inviting facility for the community.

Evaluation:

The State of Arizona competitively solicited and awarded a contract for carpet installation services to Wholesale Floors, LLC. The City has an agreement with the State of Arizona that permits the cooperative use of its contracts. The term of the State of Arizona contract is valid through June 24, 2025.
