MINUTES
The Environmental and Community Advisory Board of the City of Garland convened in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in the Work Session Room, 200 North Fifth Street, Garland, Texas, with the following members:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the September 14, 2022, meeting were approved as written.

ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION
Sidewalk Program Overview - Steve Oliver, Director of Streets Department provided a thorough overview of the Sidewalk Replacement Program for the City of Garland. Mr. Oliver provided several examples of what’s covered, what’s not covered, cost-share responsibilities, and numbers and websites to call and visit for additional information. Additionally, Mr. Oliver answered several questions from ECAB members pertaining to street maintenance and pothole repairs.
Keep Garland Beautiful - Betty Roberts provided an update on the Tri-City Clean-up, which included the cities of Garland, Rowlett, and Dallas. This was the seventh year of the cleanup. Garland was represented by members of ECAB, other city departments, and area residents. There were a total of 24 cleanup sites. More resources will be provided next year to help with advertisement and planning. The 2023 event is tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday in October.
Recognition for Environmental Achievements - David Parish will be recognized for his environmental achievements at the Tuesday, October 18 City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Community Involvement - The Shores of Wellington neighborhood is sponsoring a Halloween Zombie Apocalypse on Saturday, October 29, starting at 6:00 p.m. The ribbon cutting for the new skate park at Rick Oden Park will take place at 10:00 a.m. on October 22. Also, the Orchard Hills neighborhood is sponsoring a block party at 6:00 p.m. on October 22. They will use the Party Trailer from the Office of Neighborhood Vitality.

MISCELLANEOUS
Elections - Bob Bruns was re-elected as chairperson, and Jim Dobbins was re-elected as vice chairperson for the upcoming term.
