Item Title: Ordinance Amending Downtown Parking Areas and Time Limit Parking Areas

Summary of Request/Problem

Council was given a verbal briefing on this item during the June 5, 2023 Work Session. Chapter 33 of the Code of Ordinances establishes designated time parking areas in Downtown. This proposal will amend Subsection (B) of Section 33.43 to expand the 3-hour parking limit throughout the Downtown Historic Sub-district from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and remove 1-hour parking limits from select street segments within the district. Subsection (B) of 33.51 will extend the 3-hour parking limit to on-street parking around the Downtown Square. Lastly, amending Subsection (D) of Section 33.77 will establish City facilities in the Downtown Historic Sub-district as public parking lots.

Recommendation/Action Requested and Justification

Approve amendment.
