CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Pizzillo called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM
Sophia Pizzillo performed the National Anthem.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Youth Commission Chair Alan Torres and Vice Chair Emily Shanafelt led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
INVOCATION
Pastor Othell Newbill, Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, offered the invocation.
SWEARING-IN OF NEWLY-ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE GOODYEAR CITY COUNCIL
[Official oaths were administered by the City Clerk prior to the meeting.]
Nicholas Pizzillo, son of Mayor Joe Pizzillo, administered the oath of office to Mayor Pizzillo with the assistance of Aubrey Pizzillo and Sophia Pizzillo.
Mayor Pizzillo thanked his family for their support. He spoke about the team effort needed with residents, boards, community partners, employees and others to work towards an excellent quality of life and supporting the mission of Luke Air Force Base. He added that Goodyear has a great City Council and said that it was a great time to be in Goodyear. The Certificate of Election was presented to the Mayor.
John Campbell, son of Councilmember Wally Campbell, administered the oath of office to Councilmember Campbell with the assistance of John Campbell III (LJ), Brianna Campbell and Suzanne Wininger.
Councilmember Campbell spoke about the growth she has seen in the city of Goodyear, including the Recreation Center, new City Hall and Library, and new businesses, adding that the city was still only 13% built out. She thanked everyone for their support and added that her service to the city is one of God's greatest blessings to her. The Certificate of Election was presented to Councilmember Campbell.
Ray Maione administered the oath of office to Councilmember Vicki Gillis with the assistance of Juan Mata.
Councilmember Gillis spoke about her upcoming areas of focus including the fentanyl crisis impacting so many in our community. She also spoke about occupational cancers being experienced by fire department personnel and her planned efforts to limit exposures and provide support and services. She added that it is an exciting time to work and live in Goodyear. She thanked everyone that assisted in her election efforts. The Certificate of Election was presented to Councilmember Gillis.
Rebecca Hampton, with the assistance of Eli, Owen and Adalia Hampton, administered the oath of office to Councilmember Brannon Hampton.
Councilmember Hampton thanked everyone for their trust and spoke about the exciting things that Goodyear has experienced during his first term. He spoke about focusing on economic development, smart growth, public safety, more parks and other amenities that contribute to a good quality of life for the residents of Goodyear. Councilmember Hampton commented that he had acted as Mayor and done many things listed in the City Charter over the last 5 1/2 years. He added he was excited about what the future holds for the city of Goodyear.
Master of Ceremonies, Pastor Newbill, congratulated the 2023 Goodyear City Council.
