UPCOMING EVENTS AND COMMISSION PARTICIPATION(Layne Ruiz, Arts & Culture Coordinator) |

Coordinator Ruiz gave an update on upcoming city of Goodyear festival and events. The year will kick off with Wag & Tag at GSQ on Saturday, January 28, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The fine art show Vision and Sound an African American Experience will be celebrated at GSQ on Sunday, February 5, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In celebration of the Super Bowl the city will host Game on Goodyear a football themed block party that will take place Saturday, February 11, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Heart & Sole will take place at GSQ on Saturday, February 18 at 8 a.m. Theater in the Park will feature a live performance of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at GSQ on Saturday, February 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays in March will feature a Farmers' Market at GSQ with local goods, artisans and fresh produce. On Saturday, March 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at GSQ yogis from all over the valley are invited to a yoga festival featuring group classes, healthy vendor booths and food trucks. Movies in the Park will take place on Saturday, March 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Goodyear Lakeside Musicfest will be held at the Estrella Lakeside Amphitheater on March 25, from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Chalk Art in the Park will be held at the Goodyear Community Park on Saturday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hop & Hops will take place on Saturday, April 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Goodyear Recreation Campus. On Saturday, April 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Goodyear Civic Square will host Square Dancing for everyone from beginners to professionals. Juneteenth Family Day will take place on Monday, June 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Goodyear Recreation Campus. To wrap up the events for the first half of 2023 will be the Star Spangled Fourth held on Tuesday, July 4 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m at the Goodyear Ballpark. Coordinator Ruiz requested the commissioners presence at as many events as possible but most especially Vision & Sound, Theatre in the Park, Chalk Art and Lakeside Musicfest. |

IMAGINE THIS PLACE ART PROJECT UPDATE (Layne Ruiz, Arts & Culture Coordinator) |

Coordinator Ruiz gave a brief update on Imagine This Place. Artist Mary Lucking is currently collecting recordings of residents imagining what Bullard Wash Linear Park could have been like in the past and what it might look like in the future. The recordings will be available at the site of each art installment along the wash. |

ARTS UPDATE (Guylene Ozlanski, Administrator) |

Administrator Ozlanski updated the commission on the public art project at Fire Station 188. Artist Jason Butler shared renderings of the metal artwork on the outside wall, the steel gate emblems and woven fire hose bench. The existing HeArt of Goodyear hearts were resurfaced and then repainted by new artist. |

RETREAT DISCUSSION AND 2023 GOAL SETTING(Guylene Ozlanski, Administrator) |

Instead of the traditional Saturday retreat to plan 2023 goals the commission decided to use subcommittees to break out the plan then regroup as an entire commission for a mini-retreat. |

Commissioner Paulos gave a communications update on social media. She charged the commissioners to continue to sharing ideas that inspire arts in Goodyear. Commissioner Paulos asked for ideas on growing #ArtsinGoodyear. |
