COUNCIL MEMBER AND COMMISSIONER RECOGNITION (Layne Ruiz, Arts & Culture Coordinator)
Coordinator Ruiz recognized Council Member Stipp, Commissioner Barnes, and Commissioner Johnson for their contributions to the success and growth of Arts & Culture within the Goodyear community. In honor of Stipp's support and advocacy for Arts & Culture in Goodyear throughout his tenure on council, the commission gave him a commemorative plaque highlighting public art projects to which he contributed. His council discretionary funds were earmarked for public art projects including the GRC mural, Loma Linda pool mural, GCP Skate Park mural and Falcon Park mosaic. Commissioner Barnes served the commission for over seven years in her two-term appointment. She has been an integral part of the Public Art Subcommittee and has truly enjoyed helping mold and shape art in Goodyear. Commissioner Johnson brought a much appreciated and diverse perspective to the commission during her two and a half years of service. She will miss serving on the commission but is looking forward to providing event support as a volunteer.
