BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
On July 14, 2014, City Council adopted the 10-year Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan. The purpose of this plan is to provide strategies and operational policies to best meet the needs of current and future residents. The plan was developed through a highly interactive process involving public forums, stakeholder meetings, surveys, site evaluations, benchmarks to like communities, meetings with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission as well as the General Plan Committee.
STAFF ANALYSIS
In March 2022, staff began the process of updating the 10-year Parks & Recreation Master Plan that was previously adopted in 2014. The updated plan is in coordination with the Transportation and General Plans and is founded on information gathered from the 2014 Parks & Recreation Master Plan, current trends/benchmarking, facility inventory, business planning, Goodyear leadership and stakeholder engagement, and community involvement. The key findings/recommendations being provided are supported by input collected during this project. Staff will bring the finalized 2023 Parks & Recreation Master Plan forward for Council adoption this spring.
