FY2025 STRATEGIC PLAN - UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS PLAN UPDATE
Digital Communications Director Tammy Vo reviewed the proposed Unified Communications Plan as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Strategic Plan which is aimed at improving efficiency, consistency, branding, and engagement. She explained that the plan includes better marketing strategies, media relations, and resource allocation. She added that the department is restructuring which includes the transfer of staff from the Parks and Recreation and Economic Development Departments, while the public information officer for Fire and Police will remain in their respective department.
In response to Council inquiry, Ms. Vo clarified that emergency messaging would be coordinated with public safety to ensure transparency and consistency.
Council discussed the transition for new employees, and support for the continued use of the InFocus magazine for education and resident outreach.

FY2025 STRATEGIC PLAN – CIP MANAGEMENT ACTION ITEM
Director of Engineering Steve Scinto provided an update on the Engineering Department’s FY 2025 Strategic Plan, focusing on improvements to Capital Improvement Program (CIP) management.
CIP Manager Walt Kinsler highlighted key enhancements, including CIP 365, improved communication, and enhanced tracking and reporting tools. Mr. Scinto also outlined future initiatives such as project planning, training, automation, and quarterly reporting.
Council discussed the CIP Quarterly Report and expressed support for the improvements, emphasizing the importance of staying informed on projects and exploring cost-effective opportunities.

FY2025 STRATEGIC PLAN - FIELD STAFF FACILITIES
Public Works Director Sumeet Mohan introduced the update on the Public Works Department’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Strategic Plan action item, which focused on the relocation of staff from the Calle del Pueblo (CdP) complex.
Deputy Public Works Director Tony Mena provided details on the current use of the CdP complex, which houses two teams. Mr. Mena spoke about the history and the recent renovations, as well as plans for the development of a Municipal Operations Complex.
Parks and Recreation Director Nathan Torres shared that field staff are appreciative of the renovations and expressed their preference to stay in the facility at this time. Mr. Mena concluded with the next steps, to continue maintenance and improvement of Calle del Pueblo, returning to Council for direction regarding the expansion in the fall.
Council recognized the city's rapid growth and the need for a permanent building, acknowledging the time and financial planning involved. Council expressed support for recent improvements and look forward to a long-term plan.

There being no further business to discuss, Mayor Pizzillo adjourned the Work Session at 5:57 p.m.
