2024 ACTUARIAL REPORTS FOR GOODYEAR POLICE AND FIRE
Board Attorney Lesli Sorensen reviewed the Police and Fire actuarial reports and discussed the changes in the reports compared to the prior year. Ms. Sorenson spoke about the funded status, contribution rates and reasons for change. The Board reviewed the reports and no action was taken.
3.
Review, discuss and possible action on the Goodyear PSPRB medical forms.
The Board reviewed the medical forms used in the evaluation of new hires and discussed potential improvements. Chair Kaino expressed support for exclusively using the HeartFit For Duty's Firefighter Pre-Employment Medical Evaluation form.
Human Resources Director Lyman Locket provided background on the psychological medical form, noting that a vendor change by the Police Department had led to issues with form completion. He explained that the department has since returned to its previous provider, MBI, whose physicians are familiar with Goodyear's form.
The Board then discussed options such as collaborating with AZPOST to revise their medical form to assist the local boards in determining psychological pre-existing conditions and engaging with other local boards for support. Additionally, the Board requested that previously conditionally approved applications, which did not include the psychological medical form, be brought back for future Board approval.
