Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute any necessary documents in connection with the acceptance, on behalf of the City of Lubbock and the Lubbock Police Department, a grant award through the Office of the Texas Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division’s FY2023 Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program, in the amount of $39,096.
Item Summary
The purpose of this announcement is to solicit applications from law enforcement agencies to equip peace officers with rifle-resistant body armor.
Funds may be used for obtaining body armor compliant with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standard (Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor NIJ Standard-0101.06) type III (rifles) or type IV (armor piercing rifle) body armor; including bullet-resistant vests, ballistic plates, and plate carriers.
The LPD applied for and was awarded $39,096 to begin purchasing 24 Level III everyday wear vests.
Fiscal Impact
The City will incur no cost with this grant.
