Resolution - Police:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor of the City of Lubbock to execute a State Grant Agreement between the City of Lubbock and the State of Texas through the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), for a state-administered and federally-funded STEP-Impaired Driving Mobilization Texas Traffic Safety Program.
Item Summary
The 2022 STEP-Impaired Driving Mobilization Texas Traffic Safety Program is a state-administered, federally-funded, traffic enforcement program, emphasizing Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) saturation patrols within high risk locations, at times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent. This is an effort to reduce the number of alcohol related traffic crashes during peak holiday traffic. The program utilizes off-duty law enforcement personnel.
Awards for this grant have been set beginning December 13, 2022. The enforcement will be conducted during FY 2022-23, with 4 mobilizations between December 13, 2022, and September 7, 2023.
Fiscal Impact
The projected expenditures for this grant are $26,858.29, and will be administered from December 13, 2022, through September 13, 2023. Through this grant, TxDOT will reimburse $21,486.63 of the expenditures, with the remaining $5,371.66 funded from LPD's Operating Budget.
