Resolution - Solid Waste:
Consider a resolution authorizing the City of Lubbock Solid Waste Services Department to apply for grant funding from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, to Support Recycling Infrastructure.
Item Summary
The US Environmental Protection Agency has released grant funding for Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grants for Political Subdivisions (SWIFR). The Solid Waste Department is submitting a grant application to support the design, construction, and implementation of infrastructure to support recycling in the City of Lubbock and the surrounding region. The City is eligible to apply for up to $4 million. If received, this grant would support significant improvements to facilities available to the City of Lubbock for recycling residential and commercial waste materials.
Fiscal Impact
If the City of Lubbock is approved, the grant will provide the City of Lubbock with $4,000,000 to design, construct, or operate recycling infrastructure for the residents and businesses of Lubbock and the surrounding region.
