The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas met in special session on the 1st of November, 2021, at the Lubbock Police Department North Patrol Division, 5910 Erskine Street, Lubbock, Texas at 10:00 a.m.

Present:
Mayor Daniel M. Pope; Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale; Council Member Juan A. Chadis; Council Member Randy Christian; Council Member Jeff Griffith; Council Member Latrelle Joy; Council Member Shelia Patterson Harris; City Manager W. Jarrett Atkinson; City Secretary Rebecca Garza; City Attorney Chad Weaver

   1. Welcome, Introductions & Opening Remarks - Mayor Daniel M. Pope

Mayor Daniel M. Pope gave opening remarks and welcomed those in attendance. Mayor Pope also recognized and thanked Jordan Wheatley and Chad Tarver, with 806 Land Group, for donating the land.
             
   2. Public Safety Improvement Plan - Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale, Facilities Committee Chair

Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale, chair of the Facilities Committee, gave comments on the Public Safety Improvement Plan.
             
   3. Community Impact - District 6 Council Member Latrelle Joy

District 6 Council Member Latrelle Joy gave comments on the community impact of the Lubbock Police Department North Patrol Division; and introduced Jordan Wheatley and Chad Tarver, with 806 Land Group, who donated the land. Jordan Wheatley, with 806 Land Group, gave comments on the importance of the North Patrol Division to the surrounding neighborhoods and future developments and thanked City Council for the opportunity to donate the land.
             
   4. Community Policing & North Patrol Division Commander Introduction - Police Chief Floyd Mitchell

Floyd Mitchell, chief of police, gave comments on the importance of community policing in the city of Lubbock and introduced James Shavers, deputy chief of police/North Patrol Division commander.
             
   5. North Patrol Division Commander Remarks - Deputy Chief of Police James Shavers

James Shavers, deputy chief of police/North Patrol Division commander, gave comments on the importance of the North Patrol Division to the city of Lubbock.
             
   6. Closing Remarks & Ribbon Cutting - Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale, Facilities Committee Chair

Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale, chair of the Facilities Committee, gave closing remarks; and City Council participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Lubbock Police Department North Patrol Division.

There being no further business to come before Council, the meeting was adjourned.


 
The November 1, 2021 Special City Council Meeting minutes were approved by the City Council on the 7th day of December, 2021.
