Board Appointment - City Secretary: Consider the appointment of the Chairperson of the Lubbock Business Park Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Reinvestment Zone Board of Directors, for the 2023 calendar year, with the term ending on December 31, 2023.

Item Summary

Per Section 311.009(f) of the Tax Increment Financing Act, the governing body of the municipality that created the TIF, shall appoint one member of the board to serve as chairman for a term of one year beginning January 1 of the following year. Sandy Henry is the current chairperson of the Lubbock Business Park TIF Board of Directors and has served as chair since 2010. Per the City Council Policy and Procedure for Boards, Commissions and Committees: “The Chair and Vice-Chair shall not serve more than two (2) consecutive one-year terms. The Council shall reserve the right, as deemed necessary in individual instances, to allow more than two (2) consecutive one-year terms.”
