Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Grant Agreement, with the Texas Department of Emergency Management, to seek reimbursement of expenses related to Winter Storm Uri.
Item Summary
The City of Lubbock was impacted by Winter Storm Uri from February 11 through February 19, 2021, with continuous sub-freezing temperatures for over 186 hours. The City experienced snowfall totals ranging from 3.4 inches to 5 inches. On February 12, 2021, Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration in all 254 Texas counties. Mayor Pro Tem Steve Massengale subsequently declared a local disaster for the City on February 19, 2021.
This grant agreement through the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) allows the City to seek reimbursement for expenses incurred in eligible categories for the City's response to and recovery from Winter Storm Uri.
Fiscal Impact
The current estimate for expenses related to Winter Storm Uri is $480,063. This TDEM agreement is a 75/25 matching grant.
