Resolution - Planning:
Consider a resolution to repeal the Downtown Public Improvements Design Standards, which were adopted by Resolution No. 2012-R0417 and amended by Resolution No. 20l5-R0201 and Resolution No. 2018-R0089.
Item Summary
On November 8, 2012, the City Council adopted the Downtown Public Improvements Design Standards, which addressed the requirements for public rights-of-way in Downtown Lubbock. The adopted standards were further amended by Resolutions 2015-R0201 and 2018-R0089.
In May 2019, the City Council commissioned Kendig Keast Collaborative for professional services for the creation of a Unified Development Code (UDC) for the City of Lubbock, which will address any and all design regulations for the City of Lubbock, including Downtown Lubbock, with the assistance of stakeholders and community members.
Therefore, as the UDC is approaching completion, the Downtown Public Improvements Design Standards are no longer necessary and a recommendation for their repeal is being brought forth.
