Ordinance 2nd Reading - Right-of-Way:
Consider Ordinance No. 2022-O0036, abandoning and closing three alleys located in Blocks 2 and 4, Riverlawn Addition, in the Pharr Addition, and adjacent to the Boone Addition, Section 15, Block AK, and reserving two underground utility easements, in Lubbock County, Texas.
Item Summary
On March 22, 2022, the City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance.
The City of Lubbock is in receipt of a request to abandon and close three alleys located in Blocks 2 and 4, Riverlawn Addition, in the Pharr Addition, and adjacent to Boone Addition, Section 15, Block AK. The total area of the alleys being closed is 30,061 square feet. Based on land values on comparable properties, the Right-of-Way Department valued the land at $0.50 per square foot for a total cost of $15,030.50. Utility easements will be reserved in this ordinance as well as by separate document. A 50% discount will be applied for the alley in the Pharr Addition and the alley south of Queens Street encompassing a total of 12,359 square feet. Therefore, the total revenue to the City of Lubbock for the alley closures is $11,940.75.
All City departments and franchise utility companies are in agreement with the closure.
