Resolution - Libraries:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Grant Agreement, and related documents, by and between the City of Lubbock and the Texas State Library & Archives Commission, for the receipt of Grant Funds from the Texas Digital Navigators Grant Program.
Item Summary
On February 18, 2022, the City of Lubbock Public Libraries was awarded $69,426.00 to fund a new program called the Digital Navigators Program. This program will provide library staff the opportunity to go into the community to teach computer classes, assist citizens with online registration forms and provide other digital assistance to those that are not able to come into a library or other governmental offices. These funds will be primarily used to purchase equipment and pay for staff training. This grant will also fund two part-time staff members in the Library from June 2022 through November 2022 to teach the outreach computer classes.
Fiscal Impact
This $69,426.00 grant is fully funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Texas State Library & Archives Commission, and therefore does not require a local match. Acceptance of this grant will result in no additional cost to the City of Lubbock.
