Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Contract 16588, with Freese and Nichols, Inc., to provide professional services associated with the Flood Protection Planning of Watersheds.
Item Summary
The City of Lubbock proposes to complete flood protection planning activities for restoration of the Canyon Lakes System by completing a flood protection study of the two relevant hydrologic Unit Code 10 watersheds. Recent storms have emphasized the need to implement detailed planning for flood protection in these areas.
Staff conducted contract negotiations with Freese and Nichols, Inc., after establishing them as qualified. Fair and reasonable hourly rates were agreed upon for a total contract amount of $750,000, with 24 months contract duration. Staff recommends Freese and Nichols, Inc., of Lubbock, Texas, be awarded the contract that will provide the plans, specifications, and estimate for the Flood Protection Planning of Watersheds.
Fiscal Impact
This contract in the amount of $750,000, is funded in Capital Improvement Project 8667, Flood Protection Study.
$562,500 of this contract will be funded by the Texas Water Development Board.
$187,500 of this contract is the cost to the City.
