Ordinance 2nd Reading - Right-of-Way: Consider Ordinance No. 2026-O0066, and related documents, abandoning and closing a portion of a Utility Easement, and related documents, located in Lot 1, O.L. Slaton School Addition within Section 9, Block B, Lubbock County, between Avenue P and Avenue Q, north of 32nd Street.

On May 26, 2026, the City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance.

The City of Lubbock is in receipt of a request to abandon and close a utility easement between Avenues P and Q, north of 32nd Street. The total area of easement being closed is 11,589 square feet.

With the demolition and rebuilding of OL Slaton School, the proponent, Parkhill Engineering, desires to clean up the plat and close the utility easement which was under the previous building and never used.

All City departments and franchise utility companies are in agreement with the closure.
