The City of Lubbock acquires new digital orthophotography annually for the City and surrounding areas of interest that include the entirety of Lubbock County. On March 23, 2021, the City contracted with Bohannon Huston, Inc., to provide: spatially referenced, positionally accurate, four-band digital color and color infrared orthophotography (3-inch pixel resolution); laser imaging, detection, and ranging (LiDAR) data at Quality Level 2 (QL2); and, planimetric data for new building footprints inside the city limits, all of which will be digitally aligned with the orthophotography. The orthophotos, LiDAR, and planimetric data will be available for use by the public, including downloads, map services, public maps, and various applications. The orthophotos and data are widely used by agencies and City departments, including Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization (LMPO), Geographic Information System (GIS) & Data Services, Public Works, Engineering, Streets, Solid Waste, Planning, Building Safety, and Codes Administration. This Cost Sharing and Reimbursement Agreement with Lubbock County provides that the County will reimburse the City up to $50,000 for the shared use of the orthophotos and data obtained from Bohannon Huston, Inc. |
