Resolution - City Secretary: Consider a resolution adopting a voting system for use in any one or more elections ordered by the City of Lubbock at all Early Voting and Election Day polling locations in Lubbock County.

Item Summary

The City of Lubbock contracts with the County of Lubbock to conduct its elections.  Lubbock County uses Hart Verity Duo Controller version 2.5.1, the Hart Verity Duo Writer version 2.5.1, the Hart Verity Scanner version 2.5.2, and the Hart Verity Duo GO.  Per Chapter 123, Subchapter A, of the Texas Election Code, the City Council must adopt a voting system for use in any one or more elections ordered by the City of Lubbock.  The adoption of a voting system may be modified or repealed at any time by the City Council.  This provides for the City of Lubbock, the body responsible for contracting to have elections conducted on behalf of the City of Lubbock, to adopt the Hart Verity Duo Controller version 2.5.1, the Hart Verity Duo Writer version 2.5.1, the Hart Verity Scanner version 2.5.2, and the Hart Verity Duo GO.

Fiscal Impact

Not known at this time.  There will be an increase in costs due to an upgrade to the voting system, pursuant to Section 129.003 Texas Election Code - Paper Audit Trail Required.
